About This Track
Released as the fifth single from The 1975's self-titled debut album on 24 February 2014, 'Settle Down' tells the story of a secretive love affair conducted under the scrutiny of a small town. Matty Healy has described the track as being about dancing to Michael Jackson with an ex-girlfriend, and that physical memory runs through the lyric's fixation on bodies in motion and the pull of proximity against better judgement. The song was added to BBC Radio 1's playlist in January 2014. Its narrator circles a girl with soft-spoken presence and hair covering her face, caught between desire and the knowledge that being found together carries consequence. The chorus frames the tension plainly: an hour or two stretched past sense, hands and mouths in a house where discretion has already failed.
"Settle Down" is a track by The 1975, released 1st September 2013. The track is 4:00 long. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about The 1975.
