About This Track

'SCIFI' opens with Kim Kardashian's voice, a sample from her Saturday Night Live monologue, before folding into a meditation on dissolution. The track threads together reflections on a failed marriage, with Ye adopting a posture of self-awareness and distance, trying to extricate himself from a situation that threatens his stability. The chorus poses a binary choice, oxygen or Wi-Fi, a neat encapsulation of the material versus the immaterial that runs through the song's emotional logic. Sean Leon contributes a verse built on repetition and restraint, his voice caught between desire and caution.
