Vince Staples has shared a new single called ‘White Flag’, the latest track to be lifted from his forthcoming album ‘Cry Baby’, due for release on 5th June.
The song arrives alongside a new video following previous single ‘Blackberry Marmalade’, continuing the rollout for what’s described as the “most independent phase” of the Long Beach artist’s career.
Ahead of the release, Staples staged a pair of fan-focused events in Los Angeles this week. After a white flag linked to the song appeared outside legendary punk venue The Smell, he hosted a free rehearsal session there with his live band before later heading to El Rey Theatre to personally sell tickets for an album release show taking place on 4th June.
‘Cry Baby’ follows 2022’s ‘Ramona Park Broke My Heart’ and last year’s ‘Dark Times’, with the new album described as turning its focus outward to reflect “the endlessly repeating cycles of American tumult”. Built around live instrumentation, the record is said to explore “the tension, absurdity, and emotional weight of America”.
Further details surrounding the record have yet to be confirmed.
