Little Mix is a British girl group formed on the eighth series of The X Factor. They are the first group and the only girl group to win the original UK series. The lineup included Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, and Jesy Nelson until her departure in 2020. The group was regarded as the show's most successful winning act, and their success contributed to a girl band renaissance in the UK. Their vocals and harmonies have received critical acclaim, and they have been ranked as one of the best vocal girl groups. Media outlets sometimes referred to them as the "biggest girl group in the world." Little Mix rose to prominence with their debut single 'Wings' (2012), which achieved five number-one singles and nineteen top ten entries on the UK Singles Chart. Their song 'Black Magic' became their first release to spend multiple weeks at number one, marking their mainstream recognition. The group went on a hiatus in 2022 to allow its members to pursue solo projects.
