Unknown Mortal Orchestra (UMO) is a band formed in Auckland, New Zealand, and now based in Portland, Oregon. It was founded by multi-instrumentalist Ruban Nielson in 2009 as a solo project. The band includes Nielson's brother Kody Nielson and bassist Jacob Portrait. Their debut album was released in 2011 on Fat Possum Records.
