The 1975’s new single ‘Give Yourself A Try’ is coming this Thursday

The first taster of the band's new era will debut on BBC Radio 1.
SOUND THE 1975 KLAXON! No! You don’t get the Bank Holiday off! Buzz waits for nobody!

We’ve spent the last few weeks expecting the first taster of whatever it is we’re getting from Matty, George, Ross and Adam to arrive on 1st June. There’s a countdown on their website heading to midnight on that date – one repeated so many times now that we’re basically judging all other music happenings on a before-or-after new the 1975 scale.

But, it looks like that’s not strictly right. BBC Radio 1 have started running ads teasing the band’s appearance on Annie Mac’s show this Thursday night, 31st May, between 7 and 9pm. And it says they’ll have news.

And – perhaps – a Hottest Record in the World, a few hours before New Music Friday arrives? You’d not want to bet against it popping up in that 7:30pm slot.

UPDATE! And we’ve got confirmation – the band will be dropping a new single as Hottest Record this Thursday!

While you’re here, you may as well read our feature on the musical legacy of George Daniel and Matty Healy. And as for whatever that website is about to reveal – Keyboard Cat says four days to go!
