Barry Can't Swim returns with new single 'The Person You'd Like To Be'
It's the first single since his Mercury Prize-nominated debut album 'When Will We Land?'
Barry Can't Swim has returned with new single 'The Person You'd Like To Be', marking the first preview of an upcoming project from the Scottish electronic artist.
Born Joshua Mainnie, Barry Can't Swim released his debut album 'When Will We Land?' in October 2023, which reached number 12 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart. The album earned him a Mercury Prize nomination in September 2024, joining a select group of British electronic solo artists including Aphex Twin, Nia Archives, Burial, Jamie xx, Fred Again.. and Jon Hopkins to receive this recognition.
Following the album's success, Mainnie released 'Still Riding', featuring a sample from Kali Uchis' 2015 single 'Ridin Round'. The track, which had been part of his live sets since 2022, was made available on streaming platforms two years later. His achievements also include a BRIT Awards 2024 nomination for dance act and a place on the Scottish Album of the Year awards shortlist.
