Gorillaz have shared the intense new video for ‘Silent Running’.
After dropping the track, which features Adeleye Omotayo, at the end of January, the group of misfits have returned with an accompanying video, which sees Murdoc, Noodle and Russel get their heads together in an attempt to solve the mystery of their lead vocalist 2D’s disappearance.
The video for the track was directed by Gorillaz’s co-creator Jamie Hewlett, alongside Fx Goby. With their new album, ‘Cracker Island’, ready to drop on 24th February, the video uncovers the ‘One Truth’ the group have been so determined to find, as well as what may come next for Gorillaz.
Drummer Russel questions, in light of the video’s reveal: “So today is the new tomorrow?”. Whilst Murdoc adds: “Well, chuffing hell! What an emotional roller-coaster ride that was! I can see the headlines now: “Murdoc’s Bathwater Saves Humanity!” Always the plan tbh, just kept it under my hat until the big finish.”
Noodle concludes: “The shadow of time is always following us. Nothing is forever. Those who fight it are doomed to lose.”
