Olivia Rodrigo has shared when we'll get her new single 'Drop Dead'
The first track from her new era precedes her third album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love', due in June.

Olivia Rodrigo is set to release a new single titled 'Drop Dead' on 17th April, as confirmed through an Instagram post shared on Tuesday (7th April).
The announcement arrives shortly after Rodrigo revealed plans for her third studio album, 'You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love', which carries a release date of 12th June. That record, already available for preorder, serves as the follow-up to 2023's 'Guts'.
Accompanying the single announcement was a photo of Rodrigo blowing a bubble-gum bubble, dressed in a white shirt bearing the words "drop dead" across the collar.
When unveiling the album earlier this month, alongside cover art depicting her leaning back on a swing beneath a pale blue sky, Rodrigo said: "I am so proud of this record and I can't wait for you to hear it."
A recent British Vogue cover story has her describing the album as love songs, but not particularly comfortable ones. "I realised all my favourite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them," she says, adding that it was "a creative challenge to write from a joyful place." She's also been clear about where much of the record was made: London. Not as a loose influence but embedded in the songs themselves. "I've found a lot of inspiration from being in London. I've spent so much time here over the course of making this album. It has a lot of songs that are London vibes, about experiences that I've had here."
Confirmation that she's been working with some company in the studio has also arrived from an actually-not-that-unlikely source. The Cure's Robert Smith, who joined Rodrigo during her Glastonbury 2025 headline set for 'Friday I'm In Love' and 'Just Like Heaven', has described spending time recording with her. "She calls me up quite a bit to talk about clothes and fashion - and we have enjoyed a couple of memorable nights in the studio together," Smith explained, adding: "I can't wait to hear what she does next." What exactly finds its way onto the final record remains to be seen, but the pair's creative connection seems genuine.
Also worth noting: Rodrigo recently appeared on the benefit compilation 'HELP(2)' with a cover of the Magnetic Fields' 'The Book Of Love'. Pre-order is live now, and limited-edition merchandise is available alongside.
