Brighton's
Opus Kink have dropped a new collaborative single with folk/punk group
The New Eves. Titled
'The Head Tree', the track serves as the latest preview of the six-piece's forthcoming debut album '
The Sweet Goodbye', due out on 31st July through So Recordings.
Detailing the track's inspiration, vocalist
Angus Rogers said: "In 1685 Alice Molland was the last woman to be tried and hanged as a witch in England, strung up on a 'Head Tree' just outside of Exeter. Now, from her burial place underneath an Aldi carpark in the town of Heavitree, she summons the spirits of her fallen sisters-in-sin - Mary Trembles, Temperance Lloyd and Susannah Edwards - as well as, for some reason, the spirit of the Bee Gees, in order to tell her tale. Uttered through the coerced mouths of Opus Kink and The New Eves."
The group - comprising Rogers on lead vocals and guitars, Sam Abbo on bass and backing vocals, Fin Abbo on drums, Jazz Pope on keys and synth, Jack Banjo Courtney on trumpet, and Jed Morgans on saxophone - will be heading out on an extensive run of autumn headline dates across the UK and Europe later this year.
Among the stops is their largest headline booking to date at London's O2 Forum Kentish Town. Festival appearances throughout the summer are also confirmed.
