SexyTadhg has released their new EP ‘Tadhg’, alongside lead single ‘Townie Girl’.
The new project follows 2025 debut EP ‘Sexy’, and finds the Irish artist leaning further into trad-folk influences while continuing to blend them with pop, house, jazz and theatrical songwriting.
Speaking about the EP, SexyTadhg says it was designed to complete “my artistic introduction”, following the more outwardly confident energy of ‘Sexy’ with a more personal exploration of vulnerability, identity and belonging.
“I wanted to blend images and themes of queer and pop culture with Irish culture in hopes that one day this inclusive image of Irish culture would feel tangible and less surreal,” they explain.
The EP also reconnects SexyTadhg with the Irish traditional music they grew up performing, having competed in Fleadh Cheoil competitions as a child before later feeling disconnected from that world.
“That’s why I open this EP with ‘Róisín Dubh’: to prove to myself that I could honour the art form of sean-nós,” they say. “From there, I allowed myself to re-engage with Irish traditional music on my own terms.”
