Dominic Harrison, better known as
Yungblud, has kicked off the UK arena leg of the '
Idols' world tour with a show at Sheffield's Utilita Arena on 11th April. The Doncaster native's return to Yorkshire marked the beginning of a run of dates that had to be extended last October following high demand.
Drawing heavily from the 'Idols' record across the evening, the performance also saw Harrison revive his cover of Ozzy Osbourne's 'Changes' alongside his collaboration with Aerosmith, '
My Only Angel'. The night opened with '
Hello Heaven, Hello' before moving through tracks including '
The Funeral', '
Fleabag', '
Lowlife' and '
Superdeadfriends', closing out with an encore of '
Ghosts', 'Zombie' and '
Suburban Requiem'.
Addressing the Sheffield crowd, Harrison told the audience: "This album, 'Idols', was made in Yorkshire and we brought it home tonight. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This album was made in Yorkshire, we toured it all around the world, and we'd like to bring it home, here tonight. If you're from Yorkshire I love you. If you are not, I love you too but just a little bit less. I'm joking!"
As the encore drew to a close, he added: "I cannot believe that this community, this family, is getting this big. I could fucking cry right now. You mean everything to me."
Further UK and Ireland stops follow throughout the month, taking in Liverpool, Belfast, Dublin, Leeds, Cardiff, Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham, London and Manchester. Beyond the arena run, Yungblud are also preparing for the third edition of BludFest, which relocates to Czechia in June after two previous years at Milton Keynes.
