About The Kooks
The Kooks are an English indie rock band formed in 2004 in Brighton. The band’s lineup includes Luke Pritchard on vocals and guitar, Hugh Harris on bass, guitar, and synthesiser, and Alexis Nuñez on drums and percussion. Their music draws influence from the 1960s British Invasion and the post-punk revival of the early 2000s. The band has experimented with various genres, including rock, Britpop, pop, reggae, ska, funk, and hip-hop. They have been described as a more energetic version of the Thrills or a looser Sam Roberts Band, and at times, as a less severe Arctic Monkeys. The Kooks signed a record deal with Virgin Records three months after forming. Their debut album, Inside In/Inside Out, was released in 2006 and received critical acclaim. It achieved commercial success, being certified five-times platinum by the British Phonographic Industry, platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association, and two-times platinum by the Irish Recorded Music Association. The band won the Best UK & Ireland Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2006 and received a Brit Award nomination for the single 'She Moves in Her Own Way'.
The Québec duo step in after The Kooks withdraw due to injury.
