About This Track

'Soaked' captures the frustration of harbouring feelings you cannot articulate. BENEE sings of secrets that have accumulated into something unmanageable, words that refuse to emerge, a body locked in place by the weight of what remains unsaid. The song takes its emotional logic from a visual prompt: a painting of a monster with an oversized brain, which sparked the idea of thoughts and desires consuming the mind, taking up space until there is room for little else. The track moves between confession and paralysis. BENEE knows what she has done wrong and understands why she has kept quiet about it for so long, yet the admission itself becomes another form of entrapment. Musically, the song sits within a blend of indie-pop, RNB, and funk, its repetition mirroring the circular nature of unresolved feeling, the same phrases returning like thoughts that cannot be dislodged.
