'Earth' by Cavetown is a track on the album 'Everything is Made of Clouds', released in 2013. The lyrics take a darkly amused tack on a haunted-house rumour, with speakers dismissing warnings, then moving into grim survival imagery as “the walls closed around us”. The viewpoint is intimate and watchful, tracking panic and decay as bodies are carried away. It is, in effect, a haunted past story told with fatalistic sarcasm, ending on a truncated image of a witness unable to look away.
