About This Track

‘Strings’ by Charly Bliss is a track on the 2014 EP ‘Soft Serve EP’. Its lyrics mix stained images of being pulled along by attachments, with a stubborn resolve to repair what is broken. There are also threats of youthful habits tipping into catastrophe, alongside a plea that grace can be trusted even as it is framed as something that can spoil. One line crystallises the charge, “Strings you attached to a stolen ship”.

"Strings" is a track by Charly Bliss, from the album Soft Serve EP, released 7th June 2014. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 7 articles about Charly Bliss.

Lyrics

Strings

[Verse 1]

Strings you attached to a stolen ship

Drag me through the rough to bring me out of it

I will mend this branch from this olive tree

I will keep these friends that stand over me

[Verse 2]

Young, dumb habits break before they're made our planet die

Man of grace, you spoil a plot in your shade

But the shade can't stop what the shade don't know

Lives underground and breathes below

[Chorus]

Oh, but I won't make that same mistake

Spitting out every swollen taste

I won't pull apart what I call my home

I will love this place that I call my own

[Bridge]

Even though you left me on my bed

I'm swimming in between the cracks

Oh!

[Chorus]

Oh, but I won't make that same mistake

Spitting out every swollen taste

I won't pull apart what I call my home

I will love this place that I call my own
