About This Track
The opening track of 'Love Is Dead', 'Graffiti' finds Chvrches in reflective mood, revisiting a youthful romance that has long since faded. The song dwells on moments of innocent passion, the kind of careless intimacy that feels permanent until it isn't, and the strange vertigo of looking back at who you were. Shimmering in neon synths, it's the most concentrated distillation of what Chvrches do best: a repeating refrain that burrows into the brain, paired with production that glitters without ever feeling hollow. This is a Dork four-star record. Working with producer Greg Kurstin for the first time, the band have crafted something that feels unmistakably theirs, yet somehow enlarged. The track goes for the jugular from its first moments, establishing a template that the rest of the album follows: pop music that belongs to Chvrches, not the other way around. Where outside producers can sometimes dilute a band's identity in pursuit of commercial sheen, here the collaboration sharpens it instead.
"Graffiti" is a track by Chvrches, from the album Love Is Dead, released 24th May 2018. The track is 3:39 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about Chvrches.
