About This Track
'Idiot' by Coldplay is a 2001 track in which the speaker admits to their own wrongdoing and insists that they came with a violent edge, only to frame the moment as unexpectedly life-affirming. The lyrics repeatedly return to the blunt self-accusation of being “a goddamn idiot”, then pivot towards remorse and a kind of show-and-tell reconciliation, with the final lift landing on wonder rather than regret.
"Idiot" is a track by Coldplay, released 22nd August 2001. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 11 articles about Coldplay.
