About This Track

Damso stages a conversation with his girlfriend in the aftermath of infidelity, cycling through justification, deflection, and half-hearted contrition. The song's central tension sits between physical betrayal and emotional loyalty: he admits to cheating but insists his heart belongs to her alone, a distinction he seems to believe absolves him of wrongdoing. Each repetition of the chorus deepens the circularity of the dynamic, her affection swinging between acceptance and rejection whilst he remains perplexed by her inability to simply move past it. The track leans into the absurdity of his position without quite acknowledging it. He offers small concessions (letting her smoke his cigarette, inviting her to the studio) as though minor gestures might balance the scales, all whilst maintaining that what happened was trivial. Damso's delivery sits somewhere between pleading and exasperation, the production minimal enough to keep the focus on the raw negotiation happening in real time. It's a portrait of a relationship locked in a pattern neither party knows how to break.

"Perplexe" is a track by Damso, from the album Lithopédion, released 15th June 2018. Full lyrics are available below.

Perplexe

[Paroles de "Perplexe"]

[Intro]

Oh, oh, oh, yeah

[Refrain]

Oh baby, dis-moi c'que je fais (Yeah)

Un jour, tu m'aimes, un jour, tu n'm'aimes pas (Non)

Oh baby, dis-moi c'que j'ai fait (Yeah)

Un jour, tu m'aimes, un jour tu n'm'aimes pas (Non)

Toujours à dire qu'j'suis un salaud (Ouais)

J'vais voir ailleurs pour voir si t'es là

Toujours à dire qu'j'suis un salaud (Ouais)

J'te jure, j'l'ai baisée seulement qu'une fois, oh

[Couplet 1]

[Pré-refrain]

Et toi, t'oses dire qu'j'suis un salaud

J'vais voir ailleurs pour voir si t'es là

Toujours à dire qu'j'suis un salaud

J'te jure, j'l'ai baisée seulement qu'une fois

[Refrain]

Oh baby, dis-moi c'que je fais (Yeah)

Un jour, tu m'aimes, un jour, tu n'm'aimes pas (Non)

Oh baby, dis-moi c'que j'ai fait (Yeah)

Un jour, tu m'aimes, un jour tu n'm'aimes pas (Non)

Toujours à dire qu'j'suis un salaud (Ouais)

J'vais voir ailleurs pour voir si t'es là

Toujours à dire qu'j'suis un salaud (Ouais)

J'te jure, j'l'ai baisée seulement qu'une fois, oh

[Couplet 2]

[Pré-refrain]

Et toi, t'es là à dire qu'j'suis un salaud

J'vais voir ailleurs pour voir si t'es là

Toujours à dire qu'j'suis un salaud

J'te jure, j'l'ai baisée seulement qu'une fois, oh

[Refrain]

Oh baby, dis-moi c'que je fais (Yeah)

Un jour, tu m'aimes, un jour, tu n'm'aimes pas (Non)

Oh baby, dis-moi c'que j'ai fait (Yeah)

Un jour, tu m'aimes, un jour tu n'm'aimes pas (Non)

Toujours à dire qu'j'suis un salaud (Ouais)

J'vais voir ailleurs pour voir si t'es là

Toujours à dire qu'j'suis un salaud (Ouais)

J'te jure, j'l'ai baisée seulement qu'une fois, oh

[Outro]

Toujours à dire qu'j'suis un salaud

J'vais voir ailleurs pour voir si t'es là

Toujours à dire qu'j'suis un salaud

J'te jure, j'l'ai baisée seulement qu'une fois
