'Silence' is the sole collaboration on Damso's album 'Lithopédion', featuring Angèle, who also produced the track. The song frames a couple's argument, Damso adopting a voice that oscillates between self-recrimination and deflection. The intro sets a tone of unspoken tension, the refrain insisting on silence whilst simultaneously demanding to be heard, a paradox that runs through the lyric. The verse catalogues gendered responses to crisis, women weep, men flee, relationships collapse under the weight of repeated patterns. Damso writes of sentiments lost, smiles masking tears, the pursuit of perfection as an escape from reality. The imagery turns sharp: jewellery as appeasement, poisoned kisses, declarations of love shadowed by the memory of a predecessor. The question of fault hangs unresolved. Angèle's outro offers a counterpoint, her repeated assertion that his truth is not hers, the final line acknowledging her own fall and the burden she carries. The exchange leaves the dispute open, neither voice conceding ground.
