About This Track

'Molecules' by Disclosure is a 2015 electronic track from 'Caracal (Deluxe)'. Over tightly controlled electronic propulsion, the lyrics sketch a social scene under harsh lighting, with one voice urging the situation to be turned down and kept productive, even as they question whether they are being noticed. A recurring theme of exposure and retreat runs through the lines, capped by the image of being “in the limelight”, followed by a refusal to escalate, and a belief in connection through what feels intertwined. The mood is cool, watchful, and lightly confrontational.

"Molecules" is a track by Disclosure, from the album Caracal (Deluxe), released 24th September 2015. The track is 3:56 long. It's filed under Electronic. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 14 articles about Disclosure.

Lyrics

Molecules

The lights are too bright
Let's turn them down and get to work
You're in the limelight
But I'll flip the switch if you prefer
You keep acting like you didn't see me
It's alright, I'll sit tight
Interconnected, so don't hide the feeling
I won't fight, it's not right
You keep acting like you didn't see me
It's alright, I'll sit tight
Interconnected, so don't hide the feeling
I won't fight, it's not right
I'm attracted by the way you move
And now you got me drowning by the things you knew
And nothing can stop me
I'm disregarding the rules
It goes down to molecules
I'm not looking for the words to say
What you've already heard a hundred times
Too late, I know that you got me
I'm disregarding the rules
It goes down to molecules
I know you want me
But I can act like I don't know
It's nearly morning
So grab your coat, it's time to go
You keep acting like you didn't see me
It's alright, I'll sit tight
Interconnected, so don't hide the feeling
I won't fight, it's not right
You keep acting like you didn't see me
It's alright, I'll sit tight
Interconnected, so don't hide the feeling
I won't fight, it's not right
I'm attracted by the way you move
And now you got me drowning by the things you knew
And nothing can stop me
I'm disregarding the rules
It goes down to molecules
I'm not looking for the words to say
What you've already heard a hundred times
Too late, I know that you got me
I'm disregarding the rules
It goes down to molecules

Disclosure are elated and electric headlining Reading

Opening with ‘White Noise’ the split second AlunaGeorge finish performing it in the dance tent, Disclosure bring the festival experience full circle. “This is the first festival me and Howard ever went to,” Guy Lawrence declares. “That’s why I think this crowd is going to be the best crowd we ever played to, am I right?” Getting their audience involved is something Disclosure excel at. Transitioning so effortlessly from one song to the next that you'd almost believe they were created this way (let's face it - Disclosure were always meant for mass dance-alongs), the duo take the main stage for their very own. They might be champions of the moment, but the maintain their victory with no shortage of humility. “What a pleasure it is to share the stage with one of our favourite bands in the UK: Foals!” Harkening back to their own days as festival punters in the fields (“we have stood where you are stood”), the set offers nothing short of elation. The duo’s electric energy ignites the darkening field with an all natural ease. Drawing from songs from all throughout their history, it seems like this moment was always meant to be. From the darkened refrains of ‘Driving On’, through the soulful introduction of Brendan Reilly for ‘Moving Mountains’, to the elated rendition of ‘Latch’, Disclosure usher in the night with an unparalleled excitement – and the weekend is only just beginning.
