The second promotional single from Doja Cat's fourth studio album 'Scarlet', released on 1st September 2023, 'Demons' leans into the horrorcore accusations that had trailed her online. Produced by D.A. Got That Dope, the track adopts a clipped baby-voice delivery over trap production, turning the demonic label into a taunt rather than a defence.

The lyrics frame success as vindication, Doja Cat rapping about full pockets and shaken rivals whilst cataloguing the trappings of fame with a mix of braggadocio and self-aware provocation. The chorus refrain positions demons not as something to exorcise but as companions to wealth and status, the question posed with a knowing smirk rather than any real introspection. It is confrontational without being particularly interested in resolution, more concerned with the spectacle of arrival than the psychology behind it.
