About This Track
'Like Me' finds Future at the centre of a three-way negotiation of street credibility and material excess. Alongside 42 Dugg and Lil Baby, he constructs a hierarchy of hustlers, each claiming their own version of the same lifestyle: watches, cars, drugs, money. The song's central refrain collapses those distinctions, suggesting that whether you're moving weight, riding jets, or standing outside with addicts, you're fundamentally operating from the same playbook. Future's verse zeroes in on this levelling, cataloguing the markers of arrival (salary spent with connected men, finesse, Fentanyl) before reducing them all to a single formula. What gives the track its edge is the absence of celebration. There's no triumph in the repetition, no boast that lands as anything but inventory. Each artist recites their version of the same script: cash payments, switching guns, loyalty to neighbourhood turf, the willingness to die for it. The song treats these as facts of a life rather than achievements to be cheered. It's a record about sameness masquerading as distinction, about the way money and violence create the illusion of difference where there is mostly just repetition.
