Future and Lil Wayne trade verses over a production centred on the repetition of 'Oxy', a track that treats prescription opioids as both a literal subject and a metaphor for numbness and excess. Future's hook cycles through the drug's name with the casualness of a brand endorsement, whilst Wayne's verse layers pharmaceutical references alongside sexual boasting and material accumulation. The song makes no pretence at subtlety; it is a straightforward celebration of intoxication and wealth. The chemistry between the two rappers works because they occupy different registers. Wayne's verse has a narrative momentum, moving through scenarios and consequences with a storyteller's rhythm. Future's contributions are more abstract, built on repetition and the kind of melodic flexibility that lets a single word become a hook. The track sits within a collaborative project that pairs Future's trap sensibility with Juice WRLD's emo-rap approach, though 'Oxy' itself belongs firmly to Future's world.
"Oxy" is a track by Future, from the album Future & Juice WRLD Present… WRLD ON DRUGS, released 19th October 2018. Full lyrics are available below.
