About This Track

Future examines the cost of relentless ambition and fame over a production from The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. The track finds him caught between the demands of success and the toll it takes on his personal life, cycling through substances as a means of escape: prescription pills, cannabis, codeine. Each is framed not as indulgence but as a coping mechanism, a way to manage the pressure of constant work and the distance it creates from family and old friendships. The chorus distils this tension into its refrain: "I'm tryna substitute everything".
