Ghost's 'He Is' arrived as a promotional single in May 2015, the fifth track from their third studio album 'Meliora'. The song had been written in 2007 and was initially attempted for the band's previous album 'Infestissumam', but shelved after repeated efforts to make it fit their sound. When pre-production for 'Meliora' began, the band revisited the track and found its place. The lyrics adopt the voice of devotion to a figure of darkness and rebellion, Ghost writing 'He is insurrection, he is spite / He's the force that made me be'. The Latin refrain 'Nostro Dis Pater / Nostr' Alma Mater' frames the subject as both father and nurturing source, the song building its reverence around images of flames, the abyss, and lovers reaching toward a many-named beast. The tone is one of surrender and exaltation, the narrator's sight and being dependent on this shining, disobedient force. The track reached number 64 on the Swedish chart, their second-highest position to date at the time of release.
"He Is" is a single by Ghost, from the album Meliora, released 13th August 2015. The track is 4:13 long. It's filed under Metal. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 12 articles about Ghost.
