About This Track

Givēon confronts emotional unavailability with unflinching candour on 'Scarred'. The song finds him caught between desire and damage, wanting intimacy but unable to reciprocate it. His partner offers affection; he can only withdraw. The refrain is a kind of apology dressed as confession: "Not your fault, girl, it's me / I'm scarred." What makes the song work is its refusal to dramatise this impasse. Givēon doesn't blame circumstance or fate. He traces the problem inward, to a previous love that left him numb, and acknowledges the cruelty of his own coldness even as he admits he cannot change it. The melody moves with restraint, matching the emotional temperature of someone who has learned to feel less rather than more. It's a portrait of someone who knows exactly what he is doing to another person and is powerless, or unwilling, to stop.
