One Direction have released a joint statement on the passing of Liam Payne, while Louis Tomlinson pays tribute to "the kind brother I'd longed all my life for"
"We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam."
About This Track
Released from 'Made In The A.M.' in 2015, 'Infinity' arrived as the second track unveiled from One Direction's fifth studio album, following the lead single 'Drag Me Down'. The song finds the band working a guitar-driven power-ballad template, the arrangement built around the central metaphor of its title: a heartbreak so vast it resists measurement.
The lyric adopts the voice of someone caught in the aftermath of a relationship, the narrator frozen whilst the world continues to turn around them. One Direction frame the emotional arithmetic plainly: 'How many nights does it take to count the stars? / That's the time it would take to fix my heart.' The chorus returns to the image of uncountable nights, the repetition of 'infinity' functioning as both hook and admission of scale.
The track sits comfortably alongside the more upbeat material on the album, demonstrating the band's range within the pop framework that defined their later work.
"Infinity" is a track by One Direction, from the album Made In The A.M. (Deluxe Edition), released 13th November 2015. The track is 4:09 long. It's filed under Pop. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 2 articles about One Direction.
