'Ignorance' arrives as a confrontation dressed in rock muscle. Hayley Williams and Josh Farro built the song around a central accusation: that willful blindness has replaced friendship, that growth is being mistaken for betrayal. The lyrics move between defiance and hurt, cycling through the same argument from different angles. "Don't wanna hear your sad songs / I don't wanna feel your pain / When you swear it's all my fault / 'Cause you know we're not the same." It's a song about people who cannot accept change in each other, who respond to it with coldness instead of understanding. The track carries real weight because it came from real friction. Williams has said she finds confrontation difficult, especially with people she loves, and that songs sometimes say what conversation cannot. 'Ignorance' was one of the first pieces written for the album, though it took time to find its shape; an earlier version leaned harder into loss and regret before the band stripped it back and sharpened its edge. What emerged is a single that moves without apology, built on the principle that sometimes the only honest response to being treated as a stranger is to leave.
