About This Track

'Pigpen' by Slothrust is a 2016 rock track from the album 'Everyone Else'. The lyrics stage a tense, bargain-like exchange around injury and contamination, with the repeated question of whether poison can be pulled out. It also gestures towards escape, imagining wings that cannot lift because they are burdened and coated, before turning to a more caretaking image in the line “I would wash your hands for you”. The overall mood is confrontational yet oddly intimate, like self-preservation conducted through acts of service.

"Pigpen" is a track by Slothrust, from the album Everyone Else, released 27th October 2016. The track is 5:08 long. It's filed under Rock. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 2 articles about Slothrust.

Lyrics

Pigpen

You have got an open mouth,
And I have got an open wound.
Want to suck the poison out?
Will you suck the poison out?
And I would spread my wings
If they weren't so goddamn heavy.
Yeah, I would spread my wings
If they weren't coated in honey.

But I would wash your hands for you.
I'm sure that I could get them clean.
I won't be gentle anymore.
I'll use expensive soap,
I'll scrub aggressively.

There'd be no more germs.
You would be so clean,
You would be clean.
The dirt would fade away,
You will be clean.

I would spread my wings
If they weren't so goddamn heavy.
Yeah, I would spread my wings
If they weren't coated in honey.

Being dirty is practical,
All the girls leave you alone.
When you're sticking to yourself,
You don't want nobody else.

And I would spread my wings
If they weren't so goddamn heavy.
Yeah, I would spread my wings
If they weren't coated in honey.

Sucking flies into your throat,
Coughing up nests on your chest.
We could live together there,
Never fly to anywhere.
