About This Track

'Hypnotised' by SOFT PLAY is a 2016 track from the album 'Take Control'. The lyrics take aim at a narrowing world of distraction and influence, from reality TV and video games to the insistence that something, somewhere, is “controlling”. With a mock-bright, admonitory tone, the song turns its gaze on people being steered mid-thought, urging a stop and a reset. The imagery is deliberately bleak, an imaginary town where nothing is really going on, yet the transmission keeps coming.
