About This Track

‘Especially You’ by Wallows is an alternative song from the album ‘Tell Me That It’s Over’ (2022). The lyrics find a speaker unable to sleep after what someone has said, caught in sleepless confusion as their thoughts churn over what the moment meant, with the refrain landing on the repeated emphasis of “especially you”. The overall tone is anxious and self-interrogating, as if the mind is replaying the conversation until it stops making sense.

Lyrics

Especially You

Thinking 'bout what you just said
Sleepless, now my eyes are red
My head can't comprehend
Living in the background wondering what you meant

That's when my eyes got red
Thinking 'bout what you just said
Some things leave me confused
But especially you
But especially you
But especially

Can't get you off my mind
Life's like a waste of time
When you're not here to distract
Me from the things that I lack, save me
Feel nothing when you're gone
Wait, did that comе out wrong?
Don't know if I'll get it back
Wondering how you'll react, baby

Thinking 'bout what you just said
Sleeplеss, now my eyes are red
My head can't comprehend
Living in the background wondering what you meant

That's when my eyes got red
Thinking 'bout what you just said
Some things leave me confused
But especially you
But especially you
But especially you
But especially you
But especially

Can't stop a mood that swings
I'll read into anything
I know that's not what you meant
I got the wrong sentiment
I tend to make a narrative
Paste it and make it stick
Decide the truth without facts
Can't you just help me relax?

Thinking 'bout what you just said
Sleepless, now my eyes are red
My head can't comprehend
Living in the background wondering what you meant

That's when my eyes got red
Thinking 'bout what you just said
Some things leave me confused
But especially you
But especially you
But especially you
But especially you
But especially you

What music did Wallows make as The Feaver and The Narwhals?

Before becoming Wallows in 2017, Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters and Cole Preston played as The Feaver and The Narwhals. Their documented pre-Wallows release is The Narwhals’ four-song EP from October 2014.

Why ‘As It Was’ sounded like an alternative-pop crossover before it became Harry Styles’ US chart record

Dork’s April 2022 response to Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ put it alongside The Strokes, Wallows and Alfie Templeman. It was a description of the song’s place in pop at the time, not a claim about confirmed influences.

When Wallows began writing for bigger rooms, their older songs were ready

Wallows made 2024’s ‘Model’ with their largest shows in mind, but Alexandra Palace showed that the older songs had always contained the same live-ready foundations.

Why Wallows released ‘More’ as an EP instead of a ‘Model’ deluxe

Wallows’ seven-track ‘More’ came from the same recording period as ‘Model’, but the band felt the songs had become a distinct collection rather than bonus material.

What Wallows’ ‘Nothing Happens’ offers beyond ‘Are You Bored Yet?’

Wallows’ 2019 debut was built from a decade of friendship, self-doubt, jokes and songs that have remained central to their biggest live shows.
