About This Track

'On Time' by Wallows is the 2021 track from the album 'Remote (Deluxe)'. The lyrics are framed as a tense, self-incriminating confession, with grief repeatedly trying and failing to be reasoned away. Over the repeated refrain, the speaker lands on the idea of being “Right on time”, while also admitting that the situation feels wrong. The effect is a loop of resolve and defeat, as if timekeeping offers structure but not escape.

"On Time" is a track by Wallows, from the album Remote (Deluxe), released 19th February 2021. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about Wallows.

Lyrics

On Time

[Verse 1: Cole Preston]

Oh, my love, I can't explain away my grief

Three words, they don't mean anything to me

Each time I try to play the game

I wind up in defeat

I know it's wrong, but she's right

[Refrain: Cole Preston]

Right on time

She's right on time

She's right on time

[Verse 2: Cole Preston]

Oh, my love, I don't know why we have to fight

I'd save your words 'cause we won't find the light

I hear you callin' out my name

It floats right over me

I'm almost gone, but she's right

[Refrain: Cole Preston]

Right on time

She's right on time

She's right on time

[Bridge: Cole Preston]

I can't help it if I don't care

Help it if I don't care

Help it if I don't care

Baby, I can't help it if I don't carе

Help it if I don't care

Help it if I don't carе

[Outro: Cole Preston]

But she's right

Right on time

She's right on time

She's right on time

Yeah, she's right

Right on time (I can't help it if I don't care)

She's right on time (Can't help it if I don't care)

She's right on time

Why Wallows released ‘More’ as an EP instead of a ‘Model’ deluxe

Wallows’ seven-track ‘More’ came from the same recording period as ‘Model’, but the band felt the songs had become a distinct collection rather than bonus material.

What Wallows’ ‘Nothing Happens’ offers beyond ‘Are You Bored Yet?’
