Kae Tempest – The Line Is A Curve

  • Melissa Darragh
  • April 6, 2022

Label: Fiction Records
Released: 8th April 2022

The multi-talented Kae Tempest has proven themselves a fantastic author, poet and playwright, and is back to show once again that they’re a top-class recording artist as well. With fourth studio album ‘The Line Is A Curve’, Kae explores the complexities of life and love with a fresh finesse.

Working once again with Dan Carey of Speedy Wunderground on production, ‘The Line Is A Curve’ flows. From the danceable ‘More Pressure’ to the deeply beautiful ‘Grace’, each new track conveys fierce emotion, the production perfectly complementing the simplicity and intensity of Kae’s spoken word. Some old-school synth sounds bring a feeling of nostalgia, with the deep-cutting delivery of Kae’s vocals elevating the album beyond past offerings and keeping each track sounding fresh.

Featuring a varied cast of talented musicians, with accompanying vocals from the likes of Lianne La Havas, Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten, and Kevin Abstract from BROCKHAMPTON, ‘The Line Is A Curve’ is a celebration of resilience, exploring the dark and light of life with all the passion and gentle ferocity Kae Tempest has become so well known for, creating a beautifully melancholic commentary on our modern world.

As the album comes to an end, the melody of opening track ‘Priority Boredom’ is mirrored in final track ‘Grace’, leaving you ready to listen again and again.
