Natalie Imbruglia has announced new album ‘Algorithm’ after “the most fun” she’s ever had making a record
The independently-funded record features collaborations with Fraser T Smith and Gary Lightbody.

Natalie Imbruglia has detailed her next record, 'Algorithm', which will arrive on 4th September. The album's lead single 'Upside Down' is out now.
Every track on 'Algorithm' was co-written and co-produced by Imbruglia herself, who also funded the project entirely independently. Among her collaborators on the record are MyRiot (London Grammar), Fraser T Smith (Adele, Dave, Stormzy, Sam Smith), Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol, David Sneddon (Lana Del Rey, Hurts), Anu Pillai (Lewis Capaldi, Declan J Donovan), Tobie Tripp (George Ezra), Mark Crew (Bastille, James Arthur) and Dan Priddy (Rag'n'Bone Man, Bastille).
Speaking about the making of the record, Imbruglia said: "On this record I chose to work with collaborators who also co-produce so from start to finish we were all so invested in every song. I really hope that people get as much joy from listening to this record as we did making it. And that they dance their arses off. This was by far the most fun I've ever had making a record. It also happened to coincide with the most challenging time I've had with my mental health. This is the beauty of music and artistic expression. You can take something dark and turn it into light."
Discussing the lead single, which tackles themes around mental health and the pressure of maintaining control, she added: "The inability to control my emotions, wrestling with fight or flight mode, was awful, and I was reaching this critical point with it. In a way, the song is about how sheer willpower – trying to force your way out of something – doesn't always work. You need tools, support. So that's where the song was born from, that fight to maintain a semblance of what some might consider normality."
Her first record in five years, 'Algorithm' follows 2021's 'Firebird'. It will be released across CD, Deluxe CD, vinyl, deluxe vinyl and digital platforms. The tracklist comprises 'Debbie', 'Upside Down', 'Catastrophe', 'Algorithm', 'Sounds Like It Feels', 'Jesus On Mars', 'Who Dimmed The Lights', 'End Game', 'Just Drive', 'Breathe With The Fire', 'Lola' and 'Beautiful Love'.
A run of summer festival appearances will accompany the release, with Imbruglia set to headline both App-Fest and Replay. She will additionally appear at In It Together and Lazydays in the UK, with further dates planned across Spain, Sweden and Mexico.
