Rebecca Lucy Taylor, born on 15 October 1986, is an English musician, songwriter, and actress known by her stage name Self Esteem. She was initially part of the band Slow Club before launching a solo career in 2017 with the single 'Your Wife.' Her studio albums include 'Compliments Please' (2019), 'Prioritise Pleasure' (2021), and 'A Complicated Woman' (2025). Taylor is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and theatre composer. She received the 2021 BBC Music Introducing Artist of the Year Award and was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2022 for 'Prioritise Pleasure.' As an actress, she has performed on stage and appeared in television series such as I Hate Suzie and Smothered. From September 2023 to March 2024, she played the lead role of Sally Bowles in the West End production of Cabaret. She is currently starring in the West End revival of Teeth 'n' Smiles.
