Curtis Harding has announced a space-themed concept album, ‘Departures & Arrivals: Adventures of Captain Curt’

The Atlanta singer reveals a self-produced fourth album following a space pilot’s journey home, due September 5th.

Curtis Harding has announced his fourth album ‘Departures & Arrivals: Adventures of Captain Curt’, set for release on 5th September.

The Atlanta-based singer/songwriter has crafted a concept album following the story of a pilot lost in space, inspired by his own experiences of being away from home. “Because I’m away from home so much of the time, a lot of these songs came from feeling adrift and wanting to get back to the ones I love,” Harding explains. “I started envisioning this character who takes a journey and gets lost in space, then ends up traveling through different galaxies and dimensions as he’s trying to find his way back home.”

The self-produced album, recorded at Electric Deluxe Recorders in Austin, features symphonic string arrangements by Steve Hackman. “I’ve always used strings on my records but never to this extent, and everything Steve created just took me to another place,” Harding notes.

“I produced my first album so this felt like a return, although this time I was more confident and capable of sonically going where I wanted to go,” he says. “I really love the process of building worlds in the studio, doing what I want in the moment and experimenting with new sounds instead of doing the same thing over and over.”

Alongside the announcement, Harding has shared new track ‘True Love Can’t Be Blind’, exploring the theme of enduring love across great distances.
