Genesis Owusu has announced a new album, 'REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE'

Genesis Owusu will release 'REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE' on 15th May through OURNESS. The record is his third studio album, arriving alongside European live dates in Paris and London next month.

Owusu explains what drove him to make the record: "I started writing this album because I was seeing so much of the world and watching what was happening. I felt like I had something important to say. I was writing this almost for necessity because there were so many people not saying what needed to be said. I feel like I'm a student of Nina Simone, and she said, 'the purpose of an artist is to reflect the times they live in'."

Several tracks from the album have already surfaced. 'PIRATE RADIO' and 'DEATH CULT ZOMBIE' both arrived in recent months, while latest offering 'STAMPEDE' features a music video filmed during Owusu's first trip back to Ghana since leaving the country as a child.

Prior to this, Owusu released debut record 'Smiling With No Teeth' in 2021, followed by 'STRUGGLER' two years later. Between the two projects, he picked up seven ARIA Awards, with both albums earning Album of the Year.
