The track is a cut from her recent third LP, ‘
Hold The Girl’, which
Dork’s 5-star review said, “proves she could rub shoulders with the big leagues unironically”.
Her live rendition of the song was featured as part of
Strictly Come Dancing’s 2022 Halloween special, which is fitting seeing as she just dropped
a spooky music video for another album cut, ‘
Frankenstein’. It was the sixth episode of the definitive dancing programme’s 20th series, which has recently hosted performances from George Ezra, Robbie Williams, Becky Hill, and Adam Lambert.
The special aired last night, Sunday October 30th, on BBC One and is now a
vailable to stream in full via BBC iPlayer. You can watch
Sawayama’s performance here:
The Japanese–British singer has already proved her live chops through a flurry of performances this year, including stops at
Latitude and Big Weekend – she just concluded a UK tour leg at London’s 02 Academy Brixton, where she
collected food and cash donations in support of the Trussell Trust.
You can catch
Rina Sawayama early next year when she will perform a new
slate of shows across Europe.
