About Oasis
Oasis are an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. The group initially included Liam Gallagher on lead vocals, Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs on guitar, Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan on bass, and Tony McCarroll on drums. A few months after formation, Liam Gallagher asked his older brother Noel Gallagher to join as a fifth member, taking on lead guitar and vocals. Noel became the de facto leader of the band and assumed songwriting duties for their first four albums. Oasis signed with Creation Records in 1993 and released their debut album, Definitely Maybe, in 1994. The album topped the UK Albums Chart and became the fastest-selling debut in British history at the time. In 1995, they released (What's the Story) Morning Glory? with new drummer Alan "Whitey" White. The band was involved in a highly publicized chart rivalry with Blur, known as the "Battle of Britpop." Oasis is regarded as the most successful group of the Britpop era and one of the most influential rock bands of all time.
A record six British acts are honoured, surpassing 2019's haul of five.
