Forever

'Forever' moves through states of dissociation and appeal. The opening image sets a figure burning in the sun, living for no one, salt on the tongue, lights extinguished. There is thirst here, and forgetting, and a mouth opened in some gesture of surrender or exposure. The voice circles back to a refrain of fracture and repair: "Pull it together / We could love you / Forever and ever." It is an offer made to someone coming apart. The second half shifts the frame. A game is invented, stakes raised with "no pain no gain", until something breaks. The speaker promises their own reassembly, and asks to be loved in return, the same forever repeated. What emerges is a song about holding on to someone, or holding yourself together for someone, through the specific exhaustion of that labour. The repetition is not reassurance; it is insistence.
