About This Track

blackbear turns the tables on himself here, watching his own playbook backfire. He's the one left chasing now, sending texts he shouldn't send, feeling small when she pulls away. The song moves between his confession and his rationalisation, cycling through the same chorus: we're all suckers for something, all of us compromised by desire or ego or the need to be wanted. The production sits in shadow and gloss, blips and bleeps giving way to his clean vocals. There's a sharp pop instinct underneath the dark expressionism, which means the song lands as both confession and earworm. He's admitting to a pattern of behaviour, naming it, and then watching himself repeat it anyway. That's the real hook.
