About This Track

'Liability' finds Drake in the wreckage of a relationship where the emotional labour has become one-sided. He cycles through the same complaint: you get in my bed, you twist up my head, I'm changing for you. The song moves between tenderness and accusation, charting the moment a partner's absence becomes a kind of presence, their indifference a weight he carries alone. The track builds its case methodically. Winter came and she left around his favourite time. She claims she hasn't eaten in days but she's dancing in the club to their songs, her phone turned up, her tone changed. He names the pattern: playing with his emotions, over and over. By the final verse, the tone hardens. He's taught her things, shown her songs, and now she's found replacements. The hurt has curdled into something sharper, a man keeping score of his own diminishment.
