About This Track

'Pro Memoria' is a meditation on mortality dressed as a warning. Ghost sets the track as a series of imperatives, each one a refusal to look away from death's inevitability. The song moves between Lucifer's whisper and the band's own voice, collapsing the distance between temptation and acceptance. There is no escape clause here, no redemption offered; instead, Ghost insists that acknowledging your own dying is the only honest posture available to the living. The lyrics circle obsessively around a single demand: do not forget about dying, do not forget about death as your friend, do not forget that you will die. It is a blunt formula, but the repetition works as incantation rather than sermon. Ghost pairs this with imagery of hidden cruelty and moral compromise, suggesting that the refusal to face mortality is what allows us to behave badly towards one another.
