About This Track
K.Flay frames romantic obsession as intoxication, the metaphor running clean through 'High Enough'. She's already high on someone else; she doesn't need substances anymore. The song moves through a catalogue of former dependencies, liquor, cigarettes, pills, each one replaced by the presence of another person. What might read as devotion tips toward something more consuming: she'd crawl through a desolate place with snakes, fall to her knees, surrender her sight entirely. The production sits somewhere between pop and alternative rock, letting the lyric do most of the work. The chorus lands the conceit simply: "I'm already high enough / You got me you got me good." It's a love song that doesn't quite trust itself, or perhaps doesn't trust love at all. The world is a curse, she sings, but this person is the antidote. There's a brittleness to that bargain, a sense that one person cannot sustainably replace every other source of comfort or escape. The song doesn't resolve the tension; it just holds it, suspended.
