Runner

'Runner' traces the arc of a relationship from its electric beginning to its dissolution. Kevin Abstract sings about the moment he was found in darkness, a turning point that upended his life so completely his parents couldn't recognise the change in him. The song captures that early vertigo of new love, the certainty that he'd return whenever loneliness called. What follows is a push-pull of attachment and release. The chorus circles obsessively around the tension between wanting to let go and wanting to stay, between moving on and holding fast.
