About This Track

'Western' by Mk.gee is an alternative track from the album 'A Museum Of Contradiction' (2020). The lyrics move through a state of heavy loneliness and self-questioning, with lines about feeling ignored and wondering whether that pattern will last. At the centre is a desire for reassurance and connection, as the singer asks whether someone is still there, and whether things are still the same. The repeated checking for an answer gives the chorus a tense, reaching quality, like a conversation that keeps stopping just short of clarity.

"Western" is a track by Mk.gee, from the album A Museum Of Contradiction, released 21st May 2020. The track is 2:53 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 2 articles about Mk.gee.

Lyrics

Western

[Verse 1]

Have I told you yet that I'm so lonely I could die?

I wear it like a watch, can you tell me why I wear it all the time?

[Verse 2]

Sixteen again, no one ever answers my calls

Is this how it's gonna be for my whole life?

[Chorus]

I wanna know are you— (Ooh)

Are we still going out?

I wanna know are you— (Ooh)

Are we still going out?

[Verse 3]

All this longing only hits when I'm stalling

At the red light on Western Avenue

Tell me, what's the time?

One more light and I might die

[Verse 4]

I'm scared of working too hard

I'm scared of working not enough

How soon is two weeks when it already has been two months?

Are you still having fun? (With me)

[Chorus]

I wanna know are you— (Ooh)

Are we still going out?

I wanna know are you— (Ooh)

Are we still going out?
