About This Track

'Future' closes Paramore's self-titled album as an extended instrumental-led track, written by Hayley Williams and Taylor York. The song emerged as what Williams described as a happy accident, born from guitar experimentation during a period of significant change for the band. Its nearly eight-minute runtime makes it one of their longest pieces, built more around texture and atmosphere than conventional song structure. The lyrics pivot away from retrospection. Williams repeats the refusal to dwell on the past, instead positioning the present moment as one of active creation. "I'm writing the future / I'm writing it out, loud" frames forward momentum not as passive hope but as deliberate construction.
