About This Track

'Rta #2' by WILLOW is a 2016 track in which the lyrics look bleakly at displacement, loss of home and the damage wrought by conditioning. The voice repeatedly frames betrayal as something done to whole communities, then turns to a more intimate sense of rupture, asking what happened to “our mother”. There is also a feeling of distance and containment, as if the speaker is trapped inside a defined sphere while trying to imagine life beyond it.
