Indie-pop five-piece Everyone Says Hi have released a new single, 'Just Like That', lifted from a second album expected later this year.Frontman
Nick Hodgson wrote the song after a deep dive into the worlds of Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, The Doobie Brothers and 10CC, sparked by an HBO documentary.
Speaking about the single, Nick said: "We tried to dig into that romantic, dreamy atmosphere that is the mood with this kind of music. The thread that flows through the lyrics is new life, the fragility of life and the wisdom you're supposed to gather as you get older. The lyrics in the chorus, 'I can make my mind up, I don't need to hold a sign up' is about believing in your own opinion and not having to check it in against what's going on on social media."
The line-up brings together Hodgson, formerly of
Kaiser Chiefs, with Pete Denton from
The Kooks, Ben Gordon of
The Dead 60s,
Howling Bells' Glenn Moule and guitarist Oli Swan.
